TikTok outlier finder
Enter any public TikTok or Instagram handle to see which of its recent videos got at least 2× the creator’s usual (median) views. The Followlly app flags 3× and up as an outlier by default; the finder lists everything from 2× so you also see the near-misses. Those videos show what the audience wanted more of — the topic, hook or format worth borrowing.
Enter a public account — yours or a competitor’s. A new lookup takes about 1–3 minutes; accounts checked in the last 7 days load instantly.

What is an outlier video?
An outlier is a video that did far better than the same creator’s other videos. Comparing a creator with themselves removes the size of the account from the picture: 300K views is a flop for one account and a breakout for another.
Flagged as an outlier in the Followlly app: 3× or more (default, adjustable)
Listed by this free finder: 2× or more
Why two numbers: 3× is a clear breakout, while 2×–3× videos are near-misses that often show an idea starting to work. The median is taken over the account’s recent videos (up to 30 of the latest TikToks, or up to 30 Reels from the last 60 days), using only videos older than 3 days when there are enough of them — newer ones are still collecting views. We use the median, not the average, because a single viral video would inflate the average and hide the next outlier.
How to use outliers to decide what to film
- Pick 3–5 accounts in your niche with an audience similar to yours or a bit larger.
- Open their top outliers and write down what the first two seconds do: the hook line, the on-screen text, the setting, the format (tutorial, list, reaction, before/after).
- Look for what repeats. If two or three outliers share a format or a topic, that is the mechanic — not a one-off lucky video.
- Film your version within a few days, with your own angle and your own audio. Copying the video word-for-word rarely works; reusing the mechanic does.
- Check your own account the same way. Your own outliers tell you what your audience wants more of — run your handle through the finder too.
If you want this done automatically, Followlly re-checks the competitors you add (every 2–3 days, depending on the plan), flags new outliers (3× the creator’s median by default, adjustable) and videos “rising now” (views per hour against the creator’s usual pace), and breaks a breakout down into a script you can film.
